Feature: INSPIRATION

Sun Oct 5, 2014, 11:06 PM
I promise I'll try and do these regularly! I want to feature artists that, for whatever reason, have inspired me and led me to create the work I made today; whether it's a personal piece of advice, an old tutorial, or somebody who recently demonstrated a new a technique I wanted to give a whirl; I feel it's only fair to pay back! :)

Artist | Digital Art
United States
I am Jan Mennenga, concept artist and illustrator hailing from The Netherlands.

Since 2003, I have been diving into the world of digital art. Though my personal preference lies with painting, I have learned to be as versatile as possible; from photomanipulation to vector work, I've tried to learn as much as I could - it really is one of my greatest passions. It is, in fact, a passion through which I found another one -Pepokish and I met through our art on this website, and as of May 16th, we're husband and wife.

On deviantART, you'll usually find me in #DigitalMedia, #ArtistTree or #Thumbsshare. Outside of deviantART, you can also find me on websites such as conceptart.org. One reason I spend time meeting other artists, is because I love watching (and helping) artists grow. It is because of that that you'll often see me pick apart a piece entirely while writing critiques; something I much enjoy doing as a token of appreciation for an artist's work.

If you can't handle critique, don't ask for it, because you will not like me.

Thank you! It's been a while since we got married, but either way, I still enjoy it :D

Thank you for your harsh critique. I will probably ask my anthro friend/beta reader about getting on FA; I am definitely rewriting the first chapter to be a little different style-wise.

Love Your Personal Quote! I'll Add My Two Cents By Saying That Our 'Art' Includes/Is Just As Much Our Thoughts And Our Actions. Namaste :iconbowplz:

Indeed. The quote's not as much 'mine' as it is by Bertolt Brecht, but I think any artist can see how it could apply. :)
